I love that this was a play and now a film! Such a project!! The script was well over 250+ pages!!

Inheritance is a “pick-a-path” type story to tell a huge story – Land rights of Indigenous in this country we call Canada.

A remote property is up for grabs.

You decide how events unfold.

Alley Theatre

An urban couple are on a week-long getaway to visit her father at his vast, rural estate.

But they find a local Indigenous man staying there instead –

claiming that the colonial rights to this unceded property are up for grabs.

With humor, suspense and a race against time, Inheritance puts the power in the palms of its audience.

At key moments, you pick the path the play takes next, ultimately deciding its outcome …

The play:

So we did the play, and with the play – we never made it to certain paths and choices. But in the film, we had to film it all, every choice, every path. Thus, the 250+ script.

My work wasn’t as painful as say, the Script Supervisor. For the most part, the three were in the same costume, and all my day players were one change. I did get a chance to use a hand-knitted Cowichan sweater, I was gifted by Judy Hill, that was made by my Great Grandmother, Mabel Modeste. I am so thankful I am able to put iconic pieces into my work, giving the production authenticity.

This was a great show to finish my year with. even though the scary cabin did a number on Kerri, Props and Set Dec, and myself. That’s now being written into a script!
