Missing tells a story everybody knows, about a woman no one remembers.

Set in Vancouver and along the Highway of Tears, this music drama is being created to give voice to the story of Canada’s missing and murdered aboriginal women and girls, and to show that each and every one of these missing people is honored.

Our libretto is by the distinguished First Nations playwright Marie Clements. Our composer is Juno-award winner Brian Current. Missing is co-produced by City Opera Vancouver and Pacific Opera Victoria.

I am honoured and blessed to be the Costume Designer for this opera. It is my first opera and stage performance, and it is such a different world than film. I will post more about what was actually built and designed and what was purchases and kit rentals.

I love the graphic I created. There are 5 layers in this piece, one being graph paper, the next a sketch of a pookubs mask my Dad did, and then graphically added the red detail and formlines. The First Nations Man wears this in the UBC scene.
