X-Files: Costume Effects Builder

Such a great show to be a part of!  Thank you Ken Shapkin for referring me for this job.  And what a job it was!  I came in to the job after the first quarter of the performance.  Foam foam foam foam!!  It was an epic costume build surrounded by laughter I tell ya!  I was able to assist in the major reconstruction of a proto-type that was built days before.

Foam construction for X-Files

After the major costume build was complete, I then transferred to breakdown of costumes for, at that point, 100 homeless/apocalyptic looking costumes.

Missing

…from the City Opera Vancouver website:

Missing tells a story everybody knows, about a woman no one remembers.

Set in Vancouver and along the Highway of Tears, this music drama is being created to give voice to the story of Canada’s missing and murdered aboriginal women and girls, and to show that each and every one of these missing people is honored.

Our libretto is by the distinguished First Nations playwright Marie Clements. Our composer is Juno-award winner Brian Current. Missing is co-produced by City Opera Vancouver and Pacific Opera Victoria.

I am honoured and blessed to be the Costume Designer for this opera.  It is my first opera and stage performance, and it is such a different world than film.

Murdoch Mysteries, Episode 1119

Thank you Murdoch Mysteries and costume designer Linda Muir for trusting me to assist in designing and building a part of your Christmas Special. I am thoroughly proud and excited to work with such a strong team. It looked stunning, absolutely stunning.

I was contacted by costume designer, Linda Muir to design and create 4 Haida Warriors for their Christmas Special. I used artwork from Charles Edenshaw, a well respected Haida artist from Haida Gwaii. Each tunic is hand tooled and hand sewn from one piece of hide. I rented 9 cedar bark capes and recreated 4 large capes and embellished.

Thank you to the Paula Amos and family for trusting me, and renting your cedar bark capes. They are intact and looked absolutely fabulous. Thank you to Polly Mccarty for trusting me and renting 4 of your beautiful cedar bark hats, they were perfect.  I appreciate every ones help in making it all happen.
